i don't know if this stuff was meant to be used with a machine, but i used the polish and wax from the meguiar's 3-step (step 2 and 3), since i still had plenty from when i polished and waxed by hand.
one day i'll experiment with stuff made for the machine.

SWEET DEAL. Isn't it easy to use? I mean, isn't it refreshing that it's so intiimidating to start, and then you get to using it and even though your hands are shaken off (you get used to it), you notice that it's very fool proof? It's great to have, and your car shows it.
I would go with optimum polish if I were in your shoes. So easy to use.
Or Pepboy's sells Mother's Powerpolish if you wanted to have something for bad defects. You'd have to do this and then a lighter polish (the polish in the 3-step, perhaps). But you know all this, I'm sure.

I tried the PowerPolish on my car initially with a cutting pad, didn't do anything for my swirls, based on that experience I came to the conclusion that it was better suited for very light swirls, polishing cars that have been well taken care of where paint correction isn't the goal. The Hi-Temp stuff worked like a charm, and for the price, it can't be beat. $8.95 for a 32oz bottle!

BOOM goes the dynamite!
i need to do that for my car, but white is so unrewarding that i lose interest.

true, as far as depth is concerned, but it get's just as glossy as every other color. I've gotten alot of compliments on mine since doing the detail

make sure the panel is clean, keep the panel lubricated well, don't drop the clay. I normally cut my clay bar into three's, that way if you do drop it(it will happen) you aren't SOL. I'll clay a panel, knead the clay, then move to the next panel and repeat the process till the car is done. I like claying right after the final rinse from washing the car, you use less QD that way, if any at all.
Claying won't help your swirls though, you'd have to do some polishing to get em out. The PC can remove swirls, but it's gonna take time, especially if they're moderate to heavy one's. The Hi-Temp levelers are awesome for swirls, mine was moderately swirled and the PC with a cutting pad and Hi Temp medium cut took em right out. It only took 7.5hrs!

I hear you, I'm not too sure I'm gonna have many more sunny weekends up here either. Glad I got my car done last weekend. I have a buddies 2005 Dodge Magnum lined up for this weekend, and it's midnight blue metallic(not the official name, but you get the idea) I can't wait to see how good I can get that thing to look.
