I finally left visual effects. I got a steady gig here in Irvine doing graphic design. I like it. More creative freedom, better hours, better life quality overall, as I don't have to commute to LA anymore. Less pay, but at least I get benefits and PTO.
The only downside is that sometimes I lose my artistic hunger, and end up procrastinating on personal projects. It was a little harder earlier this year because I spend most weekends snowboarding, but now that snow season is winding down, I can actually focus more energy on personal shit on the weekends.

I left my job last November to open my own company specializing in mobile tracking and secure communications technical consulting.
Things are super busy, but I haven't taken a paycheck in 3 months, so that makes it hard sometimes.
I hope I never have to go back into the regular workforce, not that what I am doing now is cushy, I just love it a lot.

Shake n Bake!
Skellz, you know anything about a company called Rockwater Energy? I just accepted a position with them in Canonsburg as a driver. It's not BoB status, but it's full time + OT, benefits, 12 vacation days, and a company truck and cell to start. I'll be pulling equipment to different well sites in W. PA, Ohio, and W. Va., among other things. 5 days a week, home every night.
I took this over a job making nearly double as a OTR tanker driver. The money would be nice, but I'd be home every other weekend...
