Dallas, TX - Body shop, or car parts / guy trying to screw me.

I was in an accident last week..Some guy cut in front of me, I didn't have enough time I stop and I slid in to him.

It was his girlfriends car. I pretty much wrecked my 5th gen accord..but I'm trying to get him out of the way before I deal with my car.

I told him I would rather pay out of my pocket to fix his girlfriends bumper than go through insurance. That car is a 2000 Neon.

Well today he calls and says his 'buddy' at his 'buddy's body shop' can fix it for 125 labor, 110 paint, and 350 for a new bumper.

Sounds like a dealership price.

Do any of you know a place in the area to get a good price on a new bumper? Or that will do body work? He says his girlfriend doesn't want body work done because she once took a car to a dealership for a trade in and they marked down the value due to bad body work done on it.

All that is done to the bumper is it has a few deep scrapes in it, and a couple of small holes..so body work would need to be done, and good body work.

If anyone can help me out I'd really be thankful for some information. A place with a new bumper for a neon 2000 or a good body shop that will do the work for about 300 or so is what I'd like.

That actually sounds about right. A new Honda bumper costs about $300-400 for bumper + $150 for paint + 2 hours of labor. Dunno what to tell ya but that sounds like about the right price man

Ditto on the estimates. You should recommend someone yourself too. Don't just go w/ his quotes. Everything needs to be in writing AS WELL AS an agreement that they will not seek any further damages when the transaction is complete. Be sure to cover your ass.

You brought them a bumper, and they charged 200 to paint and install, or 200 for the bumper, paint and install?

Thanks for the number I'll call them tomorrow!
