it's fair to say that none of you know what a coil wire is? can someone answer that question? if not, then it's safe to assume that i need not worry changing it.

I'm not 100% on this..but on a GSR I believe the coil wire runs from your ignition to your coil. I'm sure that your coil is located inside the distributor.

Tach wire
I'm gonna hook up my alarm/remote start systems and need to wire to the tach or alterator wire. Can someone please let me know where and color is the tach wire under the dash or outside the firewall on a 1999 Integra LS.

Your coil is either internal or external. Typically on JDM motors they are internal but some US motors like found in the Accord can be internal as well. i.e. I have a JDM H22 and the coil is internal. On the USDM H22 the coil is external. On my motor there is no coil wire going to the distributor... instead I only have the four spark plug wires going from the distributor to the spark plugs.
Basically, at a quick glance you can tell the difference by how many wires are coming off of the distributor... if there are five then you have external and just need to trace the 5th wire(center) back to the coil... if there are only four then it is internal.

I'm not sure if this is the same part, but my coil wire keeps breaking. Guess the factory one gave out so I had to get it replaced. Within a few months, it had to be replaced once again. The mechanic mentioned a faulty one (under warranty). Once they put the new square metal coil in, the engine fired up.
This is typical? I changed ignition, distributor, rotor, plugs, sparks while at it. The car runs a lot smoother now.
