Speaker Help
Wussup yall, this is my first time posting in this site..I was wondering If any of you guys know how I could mount some 10' subs without a box and still get some bass...I heard that there was something like a free air sub..i don't know if that exists or not..but the guy at sound advice told me that its just the way you mount it..If anyone can help me out send me and email or reply to this....thanks

look at how a free air sub works. all you need is a dividing board to mount the sub onto. but the space in the back of the sub must be separated from the space in front of the sub. i think thats it.
if you are worried about space, there are some 10" subs out there that takes a VERY small sealed box. like an IDQ.

I'm pretty sure every major manufacturer makes free air woofers. But, if you want to get fancy, you could look into "aperiodic membrane", for use with conventional sub-woofers. Also, check out the Audio Tech Forum.

I figured he was lookin for some bass without a box cluttering up his trunk, so thats how it fits in. If i'm wrong then i apologize for puttin my 2 cents in.

Free air could work in a 4 door. In a hatch not really. Basically for it to work the space behind the speaker needs to be totally sealed from the front. NO air can leak into the cabin. Its not really practicle to seal off the back of the hatch. In a sedan its a pain but can be done. Sorry dude if you want subs in a hatch the only solution is a box.

thanks guys I guess i'll have to figure something out that itsn't gonna be heavy and big taking up space in my trunk as for the components i might just give that a try
