Honda is anticipating needing some more Civics to sell, and so it is increasing production capacity for both the standard 2012 Civic and the Civic Hybrid at its plant in Indiana, the one where it currently also builds the Acura ILX Hybrid and the Civic Natural Gas.

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana says that, once Civic Hybrid production is added, the plant will be the "most diverse alternative-fuel production capability of any plant in North America." To make that happen, HMIN will spend $40 million to bump up annual production numbers to 250,000, up 50,000 from the current production capacity rate. Along with the added vehicles, Honda will hire 300 new workers "production associates" later in 2012. Currently, Honda's overall North American capacity is 1.63 million vehicles a year.
