Default Turbo?

ok,

i'm buying a 1990 integra ls... w/ a blown head..... i was considering the ls/vtec, but it comes to my attention that it's a little more work than i can handle, not to mention the cost. So, i'm thinking of a basic turbo install...i have a turbo at my disposal, off of my bro's 300zx, it's a (correct me if i'm wrong) t-3....... it's pretty much everything i would need......can anyone tell me other than piping, high flow, exhaust, and manifolds what i would need to do to make this work.....or maybe you could just give me some sites of guys who have done this to a stock ls...

i don't think i would have a problem running like 7-10 psi off of the current stock engine....

if anyone can give me any insight into the world of turboing a 90 integra...i appreciate it...

and sorry i didn't scan the boards for other useful topics just yet....

thanks

Eric

Do about a month worth of research (If you're quick), or two months, if you're the type that asks questions that've been covered comprehensively 1000 times over.

Put the research time in. Otherwise, you won't have the knowledge to know when something isn't going as planned.

also, make sure you have the downpipe flange off of the 300ZX, cause it's a unique turbo, and you'll have a hard time sourcing one.

well, i did a search on this forum, and someone had a link for a basic civic/teg turbo build, it didn't sound to hard....

as far as the turbo i would run.....we have like 3-4 turbo engines sitting in my garage, 1 turbo is still in good condition and the others are shot, but i have all the piping, and i can very easily buy a turbo timer, and boost controller from my bro, and maybe find the intake manifold off a teg, or on for a civic, pretty much like the one used on the link i found...infact he also has an intercooler off of a ....i think newer model rx-7/or a saab....

i have just about ever part, i just need to get the engine right now rigged to handle some nice , but conservative boost #'s (around 10psi)

from doing research on a turbo build for my 1991 ford escort, i found out i can run stock boost of a exp/cosworth which in the exp is about 7-10...
the only hard part is finding all the pieces. but than again it's a different kind of car, and there's not a lot of after market upgrades for an escort....

so here's what i have:
-turbo w/ downpipe and flange
- intercooler
-turbo timer
-boost controller
-and it's possible to use the oil supply lines of the 300zx turbo engine manifold w/ some minor tweaking of the length and what not

here's what i'd need:
-piping
-intake manifold
-fpr
-fmu
-blow-off valve
-and the free flowing exhaust.... which of course would be put on sometime after i get the car completed by the end of my senior yr..

i basically have the months of sept--------sept of '04 to complete the car, it's very possible, i have nicely paying job, so money isn't a problem, until i find out where i'm going to college, and what not.....it's not like i won't have a car to drive me around, my family owns about 11 cars, including mine and my older bro's 2-3 cars.......

now the only problem for me would be scrounging up everything i would need to accomplish my goal of running turbo on a stock integra engine...so, i don't know how much traffic is on these forums, but does anyone know/or have knowledge of turbos, and turbo set-ups? can anyone give me a hand w/ find websites, i know i'm asking alot, but i really only have access to a computer during my lunch break at school, which i'm spending on the board getting better knowledge of the import scene......

so if anyone can give me a hand, and maybe shed so light on my predicament, i would really appreciate it

thanks again one and all,

Eric

If money's not a problem, I'd buy a turbo kit...

It'll be simpler in the long run. Decent kits can be had for ~1grand, if you look around.
