replacing 2003 3.2TL rearview mirror
Hi all-
I have a 2003 3.2TL, and the rearview mirror is loose. When I say loose, I mean that you can't set a position for the mirror anymore - driving or small movements will cause the mirror to slip and point down, rendering it unable to see behind the car. The attachment to the windshield is fine. I looked at the ball mechanism, and it looks like the small plastic prongs around the ball have broken off over time, so aren't gripping. There's a metal ring too that's loose. I'm assuming it was around those prongs to give them tension, but don't really know.
I don't want to shell out for the auto-dimming mirror, as we don't use On-star or anything. I just want a basic one that works, with that old-style lever for dimming. I was wondering where I can get one which uses the same mounting mechanism, since I don't want to pry off the existing mounting bracket. I checked online Autozone/O'Reilly's/Pep Boys, but didn't find anything offhand that would work. Any help would be appreciated.
