In North America's green race, Honda LEEDs the pack. Honda now leads all automakers with 11 certified "green buildings" in North America.

Honda's North American powertrain division in Anna, OH and its Canadian headquarters in Ontario (pictured) both recently earned LEED certification from the nonprofit Green Building Council, bringing the automaker's LEED-certified total to 11 facilities in North America.

The nonprofit awards LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for buildings that are designed to minimize energy use and the carbon footprint. LEED certification has become an increasingly popular badge, with automakers seeking the designation for facilities around the world.
