Default can I change my own head?

ok so I've searched old threads and not gotten real great results.
I want to know if changing my own head is realistic or not. I've never done it but I'm not an idiot and I have a helms manual and acces to a shop. I've done other more simple jobs like suspension, exhaust, etc. What special tools will I need and realistically how long will this take?

I would see a doctor first and see if it is necesary, because you might be able to get a brain transplant instead. Just messing.

If you think you can do it, then go ahead, but beware you might make a mistake. My first one I changed I ended up messin up, so I thought but it turned out that the head was cracked instead. Make sure the head is in good first before you go ahead with it.
