I don't think the driver was wrong in steering to the right. I'm guessing he was trying to counter steer the rear end before it comes around.

Its hard to tell with still pics.
He may have been trying to keep the car from swapping ends on him, just out of instinct... But in his case, he may have been better off hitting the barrier with tha back end rather than the front-right. I think he might not have flipped if he weren't steering right when he actually hit the barrier. But he obvioulsy had plenty speed going in--I don't think a wreck could have been avoided.
