Default 1993 legend brake problem

whenever I press on the brake paticularly on a stop light, i would notice that the brake pedal would loose its grip and i would feel the car to move slightly forward. i would then have to press further. i do not see any fluid leaks at all. do you think this is a brake booster problem? any suggestions would be aprpeciated.

hype can you elaborate somewhat on the subject.
I recently purchased the '95 Legend and my brakes
act that way. I have been reading these boards for a few
days now to learn about these cars.

I see no evidence of the master cylinder leaking in the
engine compartment or at the wheels.

Thanks. RAP

The internal seals in the MC start leaking by so the fluid recirculates.

exactly what dave said. It is an internal leak inside the master cylinder. The only way to fix it is replace the master cylinder.

Thanks much gents.

Is this master cylinder on the Acura unrepairable? Like was done
in the days of old before we became the throw away society
we are today. I have plenty of time on my hands to tinker.

Currently I have the Haynes repair manual and I am thinking of
buying the Helms. I haven't looked this brake repair up yet
and I really thought the different feel had something to do with
ABS, which I've not owned before.

Thanks again. RAP

You can buy the rebuild kits, but a remanufactured master cylinder with a warranty is like 50 bucks. I just don't see spending 30+ bucks on a rebuild kit and it still leak. Most of the remanufactured master cylinders have a lifetime warranty anyway. So basically its just a one time cost repair.

I'll go with the complete master cylinder for around 85.00 $'s from
the local NAPA part's store.
Now I don't know if that's a new one or a rebuilt. Anyway a
local mech advised me against the rebuild idea.

Maybe I should hit up Acura and see if they would honor
a life time warrenty on their master cylinder. Wadda ya think?

Thanks for the info.

The acura dealer ship does not sell master cylinders with a lifetime warranty and won't. But you can always try. Check with AutoZone and Advanced Auto. I got one from Advanced for $110 and then I got $55 back when I turned in the old master cylinder.

I was just kiddin about the Acura master cylinder. I really was
talking about the master cylinder currently on the car,
which is the original that came with the car. There is a company
name or symbol on the side of this master and it's not Honda or
Acura. I ain't chasing off to any dealers for anything that I need for this car if I can find the parts locally. I really don't understand
the part pricing system that car dealers sock you with but they
skin you. Anyway almost all the various parts on all cars are made by
contractors and suppliers. Those who wish to
be so-called purist and shop at the dealer are leaving money on the table unneccessairly IMO. Genuine Part's which is NAPA has
been around for a long time in the after market parts business
so they must be doing something right.

Catch ya later RAP
