so what sensor was it supposed to be that's malfunctioning?

i have no idea. do i do a full tuneup, do i toss the sensor...argh...this has had to happen to someone... :-\

there is a sensor for crankshaft speed testing, i get the impression it can be faulty.

I don't know of that sensor. sorry. I'm 5th gen civic and older. Do you know where the sensor is at? I'm sure if Honda put it on there. It's there for a reason.

Have you tried just reseting the ecu?

i did, the way the sensor works, however, is measuring the misfire rate over a period of two LD car trips. What i mean to say, is thouhg its gone now if the misfires, (if thats the cause) are still occuring, than the code will be back. i just finished my first, and will finish my second at 5:15 CST. ill know then, i think this is just going to be an excuse to tune my car finally.
