VIS Invader Hood! Hood pins or not.

I was wanting to know if anyone has this hood and if so did you install hood pins. I don't know if I can trust the VIS hood latch. I remember when my uncle had an aftermarket hood w/latch and it worked itself loose and smashed the windshield. I'm sure this is a dumb question for the pros out there, but I'd hate to pay $500 for a hood and then have holes drilled in it. Did a search, couldn't find anything.

I have a VIS oem carbon hood, and don't have hood pins. Its been that way for over a year. I tightened the hood latch down a little bit, and there is no flex in the hood.

I have seen them retail for up to $650! I paid $500 shipped from CA to CT, shipping and insurance included. Yes it's Grade A

Hood pins will give you peace of mind that you aren't gonna have any chance of the hood flipping up and damaging your car or breaking the hood.

I have heard both but if you are going to race you have to have them on the car. If you are just driving around on it the latch provided by VIS realy is too small for the factory latch assembly and doesn't latch tight.

One way around this is to take electrical tape and wrap the hood latch on the hood side until it makes a solid fit. It does wear after a while but it does work. If you get any hood lift from the corners when driving at speed then I would strongly suggest you get the hood pins for it.

Good Advice, you know what your talking about.
I don't race cause I'm in 99' Accord sedan. Just got a few basic mods, I'm more of cruiser. I'm a bit of a ricer as you guys put it cause I got dual exhaust. That's about it, if you wanna give up that engine in your accord, Id gladly start racing again.

anyone has experience with oetuning cf hoods? they have two kinds of cf hoods for 6gen. one is regular grade A just like Vis' one, the other kind is what they called "spn" which has tighter cf patterns and costs the same as Vis invader, $460 a piece. im debating between vis and oe.

hood pins are a must.. epscially on non-oem style.. like invader an monster..OEM has the sub frame.. invader stle cannot due to the syle of the indent. also the hood latches are not stong enought, why not put the peice of mind in.. you are spent how much, might as well another peice of change. u know what i'm saying/

! I hear you! Makes perfect sense; sounds like you distribute hoods. Or have had plenty experience! Drilling holes in a quality hood w/ a latch didn't make much sense to me at first, plus I feel hood pins take away from the looks of the hood. But after the feedback I got on this thread the pins are going in! thx for your input.

my cf hood flew up on me going 30 mph when i forgot to put the locks in and the latch broke. it hit the windshield and cracked the frame of the hood while denting my roof between the windshield and sunroof...but i drilled it back together and used steel epoxy to reinforce everything damaged or not. odds are i'll still get another one in the future.

i highly recommend hood pins. the newer vis oem-style cf hoods dont seem to need it though, but it's just a plus if you like...

Do you have any issue on the drainage? How is it when it rains? Isn't that the accords alternator is in the front? Doesn't it get wet or something.

Can you guys give me some feedbacks on this. Im thinking of geting an invader or a monster.
