Default Acura June 2002 Sales led by MDX, RSX

Courtesy of Honda:

Torrance, Calif. 07/02/2002 -- Strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV and the RSX sports coupe drove June Acura sales to 15,043, up 1.0 percent compared to last year, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
"These two vehicles have struck a chord with consumers," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of automotive sales. "In addition to connecting with existing Acura customers, they are bringing in large numbers of new buyers who have never owned an Acura but who are attracted to the styling and performance of these increasingly popular models."

MDX sales have set new monthly records for each of the first six months of 2002. June MDX sales of 4,720 were up 48.5 percent compared to June of 2001. Year-to-date MDX sales grew to 26,710, a 24.9 percent increase over last year. The all-new RSX continued to sell well with a June total of 2,955 pushing year-to-date sales to 16,150. Sales of the TL luxury performance sedan totaled 5,552 pushing the year-to-date total to 32,072.

Acura year-to-date sales grew to 86,415, up 2.4 percent compared to last year.

Torrance, Calif. 07/02/2002 -- Heavy demand for American Honda's recently expanded light truck lineup pushed total truck sales up 41.9 percent to an all-time record of 36,178 units in June, while overall vehicle sales increased by 1.8 percent to 109,958.
The all-new Honda Pilot SUV made a strong presence in its first full month with 8,259 sales and the Honda Odyssey also set a new June record of 12,490 units, up 13.2 percent. The Honda division recorded its best month ever for total truck sales, with 31,458 units. The popular Acura MDX increased sales by 48.5 percent to a new June record of 4,720 units.

"The Pilot further diversifies Honda's vehicle lineup and provides a new pillar for steady sales growth," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of automobile sales for American Honda. "The Pilot extends American Honda's light truck sales momentum by adding to strong Honda Odyssey, CR-V and Acura MDX sales."

Total Honda division sales grew by 2.0 percent in June to 94,915. CR-V sales increased by 7.3 percent to 10,492 units. I had to replace the spacings with "_" because the board scrunches all the spaces, like this:

MODEL BREAKOUTS
BY DIVISION
Honda Division
Total 94,915 96,659 2.0% 508,288 519,016 -1.4%
Accord * 33,117 37,546 -8.4% 181,603 216,156 -15.4%
Civic * 29,176 33,776 -10.3% 155,556 161,685 -3.2%
Prelude 82 773 -89.0% 1,852 4,254 -56.2%
S2000 904 958 -2.0% 5,364 5,989 -9.9%

Yeah i saw that, thanks.

Go to prnewswire.com/news and search news stories...input sales for subject and auto. That'll give you all the sales.

H/A sales were about expected IMO...the ES is outselling the TL, but G35+I35 sales are less than the TL. RSX sales surprise me, they're very high, as our MDX sales.

As for next year, all sales should be about same, but with a new TL it seems like overall theyll be even higher.

I've been selling Honda's for a while now and I sold 3 Pilots in June, but I can't believe Honda light trucks are selling that good, if so that's great.
Pilot, Odyssey, MDX, and CR-V are truly class dominating vehicles.
