Default Death to WS6!

I went home for my lunch break this afternoon. Normally, for day to day stuff, I drive my Civic to and from work. Since it was nice out, I felt like having some fun, so I drove the R home. While returning to work I was kinda in a hurry. I was cruising down Broken Land Parkway at about 80mph. Its a 3 lane major road with a speed limit of maybe 45, but it was mid day and there was nothing in front of me. Anyway, I can see the Firebirdy in my rear view, keeping pace about 1/8 a mile back. I come up to a light and its red, so I change lanes to the left from the middle. The Firebird changes lanes from the far right to the middle, and pulls up next to me. I glance over and really can't make out anything through both of our car's tint. There was no reving or anything, just two cars sitting at a light like normal. Light turns green and I rev up and drop it around 4K, spinning mildly. The damn Firebird automatically puts a car length on me from the light. Running through 3 gears I managed to lose about another car to the guy, before we slowed down for traffic. I'm not sure on the year, but I'm pretty sure it was an LT1, and judging by the fact that I didn't lose too much ground to it, I'd have to guess it was automatic as well. Oh well, not too shabby for an almost bone stock Type R. Besides, who else posts their deaths?

Not too bad. My '95 LT1 Firebird ran 13.9 stock, and it sounds like you'd be only a few tenths behind if this is true.

Good one, Even with a good launch an auto LT-1 is tough to keep up with off the line even with the stock gears.

yea Auto LT-1's and LS1's are both pretty damn good especially off the line and add some DR's they can be pretty deadly.

I'm definetly not a Chevy Guy, but I have to give them credit. They made one hell of a fast car...

Sounds like you hung in there with him though.

LT1's have lots of potential. With a cam, and bolt-ons they will run into the 12's.

Ls1's are a different can of worms and you'd have to do 12's to gaurentee a win. With mods 12's and 11's are not out of reach. Truely a shocking power plant. Its almost as if they took a 400hp engine, and put the most restrictive exhaust system they could on it, choking it till it sat in the 13's. Scary stuff. Almost like Dr. Suess here. I would not take one from a stop, I would not take one from a roll. I would not take one said sam I am.

Yeah. There are a few LS1's on the road that run 12's.
