Default Bushing install pics

To follow up on Bumnah's report. I took some pics of the lower control arm bushing install. I haven't done the front yet, so if this sparks interest, I may do the same with the front bushings.

Here's the tools I used:
Reciprocating saw
Flathead screwdriver
4" 3 jaw press (harbor freight $6)
Makita drill and 7/64 drill bit
4 lb. hammer.

Drill numerous holes around the bushing. The goal is to weaken the rubber to press it out with the jaw press.

This press is the shizzle! It saved my ass. Just yard on that thing and it should rip the center out.

Like so...

Cut through the bushing, through the sleeve. But be careful not to go through the lca.

Now that you have that out. Just lube up the new bushings and slap them in there.

ENJOY!

Update: Damn red x's will be the death of me!
Here's a link to the album until I get time to fix it.

very nice Troy...

Did about the same thing that you did, except that instead of using a drill and the 3-pt jaw press, I just used a 1 1/4" hole saw.

Must of been real easy though with the reciprocating saw. I had to do mine by hand

You'll have to go to the album until tomorrow. Hopefully by then I'll have time to fix it.

Hahaha. Yeah, I feel like the master mechanic after tackling these bushings.
How can you host them? Let me know. I can't get these things to come up! SBC DSL hosting sucks the donkey. :madfawk:

I didn't feel like the master mechanic, I felt like the crazy, dremel-wielding convict escaped from a nuthouse.:a:
