Which supercharger is the best?
My friend is thinking about supercharging his 2002 s2000 but he's not sure which one is better overall. He is trying to decide between vortech and comptech. I don't know much about the s2000 but from what ive read the vortech produces about 10-15 extra hp but costs like an extra $1000. What do you guys think?

vortech and comptech should be right around the same price ~ 4500 or so. I opted for Comptech for a few reasons:
-it is completely bolt-on, and can be removed without any modification to the stock components. The vortech needs to tap into the oil pan.
-Comptech kit is an easier install, and I want to do it myself so I can diagnose any problems easier.
-Comptech has a better reputation, and the kit has been thru the ringers to get to where it is now. New brackets, new fmu and they will also be coming out with an IC. When it does, Comptech's kit will out-perform Vortech's.

The Vortech system uses a centrifugal charger. It's basically a turbo that builds boost in a linear manner up to redline. Predictable throttle response, but it means you won't make full boost until redline. Just food for thought: a T-92 turbo will make full boost sooner than any Vortech unit.
The Comptech unit usually is good for high 12's. I have yet to see a Vortech-charged S2k break 13's.

I am pretty sure there are many s/c kits out there but from what I have seen you can check these out.
Jackson Racing (probably the weakest of the 3 posted)
Vortech (Next best when producing #'s w/ aftercooler)
Competch (Most power w/o aftercooler - comptech is testing an aftercooler which is said to make 300+ whp but not confirmed)
* If you want to turbo charge it check out these two:
Ultimate Racing (294 whp boosting around 6-8 psi good for daily driven s2ks)
SpeedCraft (320 whp boosing 6-8 psi - dont know anyone with this kit)

I have 61,000 miles on a Comptech. I have 75,000 miles on the car. I track the car 2-4 days per month.
Do yourself a favor and get a turbo.
To the best of my knowledge Jackson does not have a kit for the S2000. Maybe they have too much common sense to do that.
Did I forget to tell you to go turbo?
