Default Help me!!!!

My accord is broked. Tuesday i was going to school and everything was fine til the auto tranny was supposed to shift into third. It wouldn't shift at all and just redlined. I pulled over and the check engine light was on. That day we took it to the honda dealership and they said it was displaying the tranny code. They drained all the transmission fluid and all that crap and then said it should be alright. On the way home it was kind of jerky and then when shifting into third it acted as though it was trying to shift and stopped and then shifted. I'm not very good at explaining it but does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? Thanks

sounds like your tranny is junk. mine never threw a code, but sometimes it would rev up before going into 4th.

you have some options:

1.$1,800-2,200 for a rebuild, but they never seem to last.

2. 5sp swap $1,500-2,000

3. H22 auto swap $4,000

4. H22 w/ 5sp swap $5,000

5. get a junkyard tranny and pray it lasts till you can sell the car $800

6. buy a rebuilt tranny from howard engineering, i think it's about $2,200 alone for the tranny plus install. you have to give them your old tranny to rebuild.

so it would be just about as expensive to get a manual conversion as it would to get a rebuilt transmission??

yep

if you can do the work yourself a 5sp swap will be even cheaper. probably like $1,000-1,200 in parts and tranny.

Man that sucks happend to me last summer. Your going to need a new tranny. You can find better pricing on 5spd swap. Ive been quoted 1200 bucks to get a 5spd conversion. Dont make the same mistake I did and get another auto tranny. its allready slipping going into 4th gear.

So a manual conversion would run about 1200?? How much would it be to replace the auto?

my auto tranny started to leak/burn alot of fluid. i had to add a quart ever 200mi until i had it replaced with a rebuilt one. keep checking/refilling the tranny to get around till u get it fixed. it cost me $800 to get the tranny replaced. it has a 2 yr unlimited mile warranty

that seems very cheap unless of course you can get a hook up on labor and parts.

labor is going to be about $500-600 from a shop that has clue of what to do. i payed an extra $400 along with a $900 for a h22 swap, which is easier to do with the motor out.

5sp parts figure about $600
remember a new clutch is a good idea and reman axles instead of used ones. also shiftlinkage can be a prick to find, but maybe someone with a h22 swap as it lying around.

5dp tranny, depending on miles can be $300-600

*of course used parts prices vary depending on supply and demand and whether the idiots at the yard think the parts have any value.

alright i just found out a little while ago it was my tranny. Since the car is still in my parents's name they're making me get another auto tranny though. I'm getting a tranny off an accord with 50,000 miles on it and they're charging 650 bucks for the tranny and 700 for labor.
