The instructions worked on 2004 Civic EX. The remote I bought from Ebay has Fcc ID: NHVWB1U521, P/N SET: 38010-S5A-A. Tx:72147-S5A-A

97 Civic Ex

Hi, I recently purchased a 97 Honda Civic Ex and it did not come with the keyless entry remotes. I found a new one on ebay for around $20. The guy I bought it from sent some instructions that require the use of the old radio. That radio has been removed and I cant seem to find any instructions for programing the remote that work. I was hoping someone would have some suggestions for me.

CR-V non-Ex remote

I have a 2003 CR-V. It is not an EX. When I bought the car, the dealer told me it would accept a remote, but one was not included. So I bought one on ebay and have tried the instructions found here. Still can't make it work. I'm thinking maybe only the EX will accept a remote. Is that possible?

Thanks

I just sold my 2003 CR-V, and started checking out ebay to sell my old remotes, which were never used, because I had immediately installed an alarm system which used its own remotes. In searching for programming instructions (which I could include with the never-used remotes that I plan on selling), I found a file which I will try to attach here. It is a pdf of a Honda booklet from 2001 that explains how to program the remote. The picture of the remote in the booklet is the same one that came with the 2003 CR-V, so I suspect that the programming instructions are the same. Now, mine was an EX model; however, the LX models did offer keyless entry as an extra-cost accessory. What is not clear to me is whether the capability is built in to all of the LX's anyway, and the extra cost just gets you the two remotes when you bought it new, or whether the remote capability had to be added to the vehicle at the time of manufacture or at the time of purchase. Anyway, download this file, and see if the procedure works. Please let me know if it does.

just got a 97 Accord Special Edition

Hello.

I just got a 97 Accord Special Edition. I only got keys, no FOB. I read somewhere that all the 97 Special Editions came with a security system and keyless entry but the dealer ran the VIN and said that according to what he read about the car, it did not. How can I find out for sure if it has keyless entry before buying FOBs?

Thanks,
Rich

Honda HA3 Alarm system programming remote CRV 91

Hi,
Very useful posts here. Some Hondas may have the factory fitted (optional on some models) alarm which links in to the remote door opening and operates that as well. The fob is a black rectangular item with two square black rubber keys, one raised which arms/locks the systems the other depressed which disarms/opens the system. Three screws on the back to get in and change the battery - alkaline 12v.

Programming:
Adding handsets to the system
Disarm the system and immediately turn the ignition ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and within 10 secs press the raised button of an existing handset 3 times. The system will respond by:
Illuminating the vehicles indicators
Illuminating the system LED (on dash normally)
The system is now in the 'key learn mode'

Press the raised button of the new handset once and the system LED will extinguish.

Press the raised button of the new handset once again and the vehicle indicators will extinguish.

This signifies completion of handset learning.

NB: if no handsets are programmed onto the alarm system, it will revert back to 'normal mode' after 15 secs.

If you wish to add more handsets, simply repeat the above process. There are five memory places in the alarm system for handsets, therefore there can be only a max of five handsets working on the system at any one time.

Deleting handsets from the system
Loss or theft of a handset may require deletion of the handset from the system. To do this use an existing valid handset and learn it onto the system five times to ensure the lost handset will be overwritten in the system memory. The system operates in round robbin fashion. After doing this you must then relearn any other handsets you have onto the system.

[extracted from the Honda HA3 alarm manual - 2000]

I just bought a 2005 Honda Civic EX. It did not come with keyless entry remote so I bought a used one on ebay. They sent the keyless entry and programming instructions but I still can't get it to work. Any suggestions?:
