A generic scan tool should be able to see what is causing the problem. You do have a check engine light on correct? That's the only way the scan tool will be able to tell there's a problem. Call the service department of your local Acura dealership and tell them what your problem is.

Shame on you Mike!
To check error codes you need to jumper the diagnostic connector on top of the ECU (under the passenger footwel carpet, the verticle portion). Turn the ignition on (don't start the car). The check engine light will blink long and/or short. Report back blinck counts here.
