Honda Engines' Life Expectancy

"Sakuji Arai, Honda Motor Co.'s chief engine engineer for four-cylinder engines, says the company's engines, if given scheduled maintenance, should last for 20 years or 200,000 miles. "That's the Honda DNA; it's in the genes," he says. "

they are right. We have seen honda engines time and time again go to 200,000 miles and more. It really is great testiment to the Honda Engineering.

Exactly, that's one of the reason why they are doing so well.

My previous car:
1988 Accord DX 268,000+ miles, no major repairs and engine was still running smoothly.
(Can't say the same for the air conditioner though )

Trucks have much higher expentacies than their car brothers. Shows that the big 3 can do it, they jsut rather not spend the extra money.

very true Yianni64. The big 3's truck technology is very good, but look at the quality of most of their cars it's horrible. They really need to put effort into their cars. Also they come out with too many ugly designs thinking they are making a trend of the future when really its just ugly as sin. ex: The Malibu :eww:

Who drives 10k a year?

I must say though, everyone I know has has nothing but good luck (make that great luck) with Hondas... engines included. There not the #1 engine producer in the world for nothing...

Luck!?
I don't think Honda's engine designers will agree with you...
There's no such thing called luck when it comes to engine design and especially when there are millions of engines out there proven to run well over 100K miles.

Well, if I would have said 'good times' I'm sure people would have gotten the wrong impression.

That's relatively irreveleant, IMO. Honda's 4-cylinders in the Civic DX and an F1 engine running 13.0:1 compression is slightly different.
