Does Sony make any good HU's? Their designs always look great but I hear from a lot of people that they are not goos head units. Is this true?

I think Sony makes very mid-level quality headunits. Like you said, they are very innovative in their design and look, but the sound quality is not close to the top head units llike Alpine, Eclipse, and the high end Pioneer and Kenwood units.

That's three votes....their current Xplode line is pretty much junk IMO, yet they have some of the coolest technology...strange. I like their older ES line when it actually meant something though....the C90 is a great head.

I think sony Head Units are okay. The I have owned two of them both are the black face flip down one, the only MAJOR thing i didn't like with them is the fact that the laser went out on both of them within 6 months. But sony has a 1 year warranty on them, but it works find now.

This a very general rule on good SQ headunits and yes there are some exceptions. Simple head units without all of that crazy graphics crap = aka alpine, eclipse, some kenwoods, and clarions. 3D motion graphics and stuff like that = aka pioneer, sony, etc...

Yes but SQ wise (which is the whole point to upgrading a HU) pioneer and sony are below alpine and eclipse (yes there are some exceptions but im talking about mid level stuff, not $1000 rich man stuff.)

i argee with everyone here who said their stuff werent top notch. i know for sure their lower end stuff SUCKED!!!!!!!

my old sony deck couldnt play CDs in hot weather. it just constantly skipped. but their higher model stuff had no complaints from my friends.

its a brand i would stay away from when looking at HUs, or car audio. h:
