Well, this sucks.

I got a letter in the mail last night.

The house I've been living in (and paying rent on time) is in foreclosure. The owner nor the property manager (who collects the rent) told me. I found out from a letter from a collection company addressed to "occupant" (we received two other letters to the husband and to the wife, I presume they say the same thing).

The owner of the place are more than $7k behind in their payments, even though I've never even had a late payment.

Time to find a new place to live!

That sucks Ryan.
Good luck on your house hunt but at least you won't have to worry about the burglar coming back through the window again.

Yeah, after the initial shock and frustration of it, I'm kind of excited to be leaving. I don't have plans yet, but living in that room gives me brief periods of anxiety at times.

Do not pay any longer!

Check to see if the loan is serviced with Fannie Mae - http://loanlookup.fanniemae.com/loanlookup/

a.) according to the foreclosure notice, it's going up for auction in April (assuming the mortgage payments are still behind)

b.) no way in hell I'd buy this house. Crappy location, already one break in, no thanks.

look into the eviction laws in your state. you might get 30-90 days to stay if you have some sort of lease.

You don't need to buy the place! In some circumstances you can be PAID to move off the premises or renegotiate to a lower rent.

Yep I would stop paying rent as of date of notice and force them to eviction proceedings while you look for alternate housing. You can go to court on this and get as much as 6 months free in the house possibly more because it is in transition at this point.

I dont know that i would be so quick to jump to that conclusion, things are tough out there for a lot of people, whos to say he didnt need that money to put food on the table, put gas in the car, and basicly just survive, house payment at some point is going to slip from priority one as things get more out of control

if thats the case then the owner shouldve told RB that he's going to have to move out in a few months. why dont u look up the listings of homeowners who are on the brink of forclosure and mail em a check for a couple months. u know, cuz things are tough out there and maybe they need to put food on the table.

I heard if you have an elderly person in the house, itll take forever to evict you. You should just get your dad out of the old persons home and have him live with you. Thats what Homer did :o
