My Wife Took 1st Place At NAGA! - Honda-Acura.net

My wife took first place for the Women's Intermediate division at NAGA (North American Grappling Association).

My wife (who normally fights light weight) fought against a heavyweight girl who outweighed her by 30lbs. There was plenty of girls in my wifes division but there were no other heavyweight girls there that day so my wife stepped up to wrestle this girl so she would have a chance to go. Despite the weight difference my wife still won 5-4.

She was happy she won but a little disappointed she only got to go once. But if she hadn't stepped up there would have been no one to wrestle this girl.

yeah because there was only one heavy weight girl. Technically the girl who lost got second place but she didn't go up to get her medal. At the time my wife was under the impression that she was just fighting the heavy weight girl as her first round match up...but instead they just gave the two of them their own little tournament (pretty much so the heavy weight girl could fight). My wife was happy that she won but disappointed she only got to go once.

My wife and I have been doing BJJ for 4 years and 6 years respectively. Our original coach was Thomas Chenault here in baltimore. He trained under Rickson Gracie and the Machado brothers in California before moving to Baltimore. We trained with him for several years before he moved back to LA. Now we train at Combat Sports in Baltimore ( the sister school to Combat Sports in Richmond VA that trains Amire Sodallah, spelling?). Our instructor is Monroe Hall. He does a good job but there aren't many people at our level at this school so we might go else where. I feel like I spend most of my time helping noobs instead of getting better :/

If you're looking for a new school check Bullshido or Sherdog even.
