It's nothing new for automakers to use sophisticated simulation systems to study automotive safety. Both Daimler and Ford have hydraulically actuated platforms that can hold a complete car with a full 360 degree projection system that is used to evaluate both driver behavior and vehicle design changes.
As more people in urban areas look to human-powered transport as a means of avoiding congestion and high fuel prices, bicycle safety is becoming increasingly important. Honda has developed a bicycle simulator designed to allow riders to experience and learn about the risks involved with sharing the road with cars. The automaker is now offering the simulator for sale to law enforcement agencies and schools for safety training. The company has already been selling motorcycle and car driving simulators since 1996. Find a press release is after the jump.
