The amp ground should be very thick and very short. I needs not run all the way back to the battery. Any bare metal surface (ie. unpainted) that's near the amp will do fine.

I'd recommend trying to keep the amp's ground wire no more than 3 feet if possible.

Not sure what you mean by ground lead wire... might you be refering to the wire for the remote turn on lead? Remote turn on leads are very thin... like as thin as a headphone cord for like a walkman. Where as the ground power wire should be thicker like, thick as or thicker than a pencil.

the box calls it a ground lead wire and the thick one is called ground cable in the diagram it goes

Amp(groundleadwire)---chassis contact---ground cable-----battery
is this right????

Maybe some kinda new fangled setup. Weird... usually this is the way I setup an amp...

battery+-------------------------------------positive+AMP-negative---chassis.

At least for the power.

The really thin one is suposed to connect from the remote turn on lead to your amp. The short thick wire goes from you amp to the nearest bare metal surface like the other 2 guys said.

NOTHING needs to connect directly to your battery.

the 12+

like everyone said....

power cable goes from battery to amp, with a fuse within 18" of the battery.

ground goes from amp to a nice strong grounding point on your chassis.

"remote wire" goes from you deck to the amp, its the wire that turns on the amp.
