Power wise isn't going to be much difference. However, the Mugen is more quiet and better built. I have Comptech for 4 years now and I love it. Can't go wrong with either but $600 more is alot though.

Will the Comptech inserts make their set-up as quiet as the mugen mufflers? Also from what I,ve seen on the forum do you need the comptech header and the mufflers to net 30 h.p. on a 3.2CLS 6-spd.

The headers add about 30 wheel horsepower (36 crank horsepower) and if you put an exhaust on with that, you will get about 10 additional wheel horsepower (12 crank horsepower) for a total of about 40 wheel horsepower over the standard CL Type-S, or 48 crank horsepower. So you can have a 308 horsepower CL Type-S with two simple modifications

I have not experience with the Comptech inserts but it will take away some power since it is restricting the flow of the exhaust. From many CL-S dyno experience, the exhaust upgrade will only net about 2-5 wheel horsepower. You will get the most gain from getting headers alone (about 30 wheel horsepower), especially on a 6 speed model.

BTW, I got my exhaust numbers from Comptech's website...A header add 32 horsepower on the 01CL-S and a 03CL-S 6 speed with H/E adds 42 horsepower.

Why would it add more on a manual than an automatic? Or does the header add 32HP itself, an the exhaust another 10HP? :dunno:

So what kind of #s would you get with a cold air intake? Have you guys seen any HP gains with a cold air?

On a TL, an intake adds about 10 hp to the wheels. I've seen several different dynos showing the gains.
