Default Misc. Honda/Acura: Halo Light (angel eye)

You’ve probably seen this cool feature on newer BMW’s. Well, not all of us can afford bimmers, so some people have been working on ways to incorporate Halos or Angel Eyes to their car. I thought this would be a fun project to do, so I decided to attempt it. I guess it came out pretty good. It’s my understanding that some Team-Integra members are interested in an article or instructions on how I made my Halos. So, here it is. I must give credit to Nick Phan who made an awesome instructional website on how to do this to his CRX.I did not follow his instructions completely; so there are some differences in the way I did them. The main difference is the use of 4 LED’s lights per Halo instead of the conventional 2.This yields a brighter Halo projection. I must also say that Team-Integra.net has been a big help and inspiration for me trying this out.

You will need:
Qty. Supply Where
Price

8x White LED ‘s (part# 276 – 320) 3.6V, 20mA RadioShack
$ 4.99 ea.

4x 220W Resistors (part# 271 – 1111) RadioShack
$ 0.99 for 5 pack

1x Mini-blinds wand (acrylic rod) Home Depot
$ 1.99 ea.

1x Thin Sheet metal (at least 5” x5”, 1 mm thick) Hardware/Hobby
Stores < $ 1.00

16x Zip ties Hardware/HobbyStores
< $ 1.00

- Aluminum foil

Special Tools:
- Soldering Iron
- Electrical wire
- Shrink tubing
- Gloves
- Morton Salt Container (3 3/8” diameter)
- Dremel (use #409 cutoff wheel)
- Drill (use drill bit 1/16”)
- CA glue “Super Glue”
- Silicon
- File and 1000 grit sandpaper

Before you start

Make sure you have a clean table that you can work on and get dirty. If this is not available you can protect your table using newspapers. The reason for this is you will be dealing with gooey sealant that keeps your headlight assembly together (we’ll talk about this later) and we don’t want it to get on your nice table. Another necessity is an oven that is large enough to fit your headlight assembly (minimum 15” wide, 8” high, 11” deep).You will also need a flat cookie sheet for heating the “mini-blinds wand” (acrylic rod).

This project should take about 1 day to complete at the most, granted that you have all the supplies and tools needed. If you study the instructions ahead of time, familiarizing yourself with the procedures, the project will flow much smoother. You might be able to finish in several hours.

Instead of screwing the halo assembly to the headlight cover, could you create some sort of housing that would be able to be attached within the headlight housing itself, closer to the headlights or would this destroy the purpose all together?

b12uceHuy, do you think the halo light assembly would work on my 96 Acura 3.5RL? If so, please let me know how you think I could incorporate this into my headlight assembly. Thanks
