---------------------
Difficulty: 1/5
1) Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
2) Set the parking brake and block the rear wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.
3) Remove the splash pan beneath the radiator.
4) Drain the cooling system.
5) If the vehicle is equiped with an automatic transaxle, disconnect the cooler lines from the radiator. Use a drip pan to catch spilled fluid and plug the lines & fittings.
6) Disconnect the electrical connector for the cooling fan switch.
7) Loosen the hose clamps, then detach the radiator hoses from the fittings. If they're stuck, grasp each hose near the end with a pair of slip joint pliers and twist it to break the seal, then pull it off - be careful not to damage the radiator fittings.
8) If the hoses are old and deteriorated, cut them off and install new ones. Also disconnect the small hose to the coolants reservoir.
9) Remove the engine cooling fans.
10) Unbolt the small brackets that attach the upper end of the radiator to the front crossmember and unbolt the bracket for the ait conditioning refrigerant line.
11) Carefully lift out the radiator. Dont spill coolant on the vehicle or scratch the paint.
12) Inspect the radiator for leaks and damage. If it needs repair, have a radiator shop or a dealer service department perform the work as special techniques are required.
13) Bugs and dirt can be removed from the radiator by spraying with a garden hose from the back side.
14) Check the radiator mounts for deterioration and replace if necessary.
15) Installation is the revese of the remoal procedure. Guide the radiator into the mounts until they seat properly.
16) After installation, fill the colling system with the proper mixture of antifreeze and water. Be sure the use the bleeder screw to bleed air out of the system.
17) Start the engine and check for leaks. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature, indicated by the upper radiator hose becoming hot. Recheck fluid level and add more if required.
19) If you're working on an automatic-transaxle equipped vehicle, check and add fluid as needed.
• Engine bay afterward Looks great. Engine running cooler and smoother. A/C has a an extra boost of cool also.
