Default Oxygen sensors

Has anyone had to have their oxygen sensors changed yet? I have to have both the front and rear drivers side changed and would like to do it myself, but cant find any info on it. The dealership is going to run me about $170 in labor and $232\each for the sensors. I can get universal sensor from Auto Zone for $70.

My check engine light came on 6 months ago and the code said I needed to replace one of the O2 sensors. I used a bottle of engine/fuel injector cleaner and it cleaned the deposits off of the O2 sensor so I didn't have to replace it. Been running fine ever since (12k miles).
BTW the sensors are supposed to last 100K miles and sometimes the error can be caused by the heater not working correctly. The heater is supposed to allow the sensor to work right after starting the engine before the engine has had a chance to heat up. If you have noticed a decline in performance then you probably don't need to replace it as it regulates the oxygen mixture for proper fuel combustion.

The front O2 sensors aren't too bad to replace, but the rear ones you might have trouble if you cant get underneath the car. Other than that its all in what kind of tools you have. Autozone and other similar parts stores may lend you the proper tools to remove and install new O2 sensors. Good Luck

Default O2 Sensors

Thanks for the replies everyone.....Where exactly are the sensors? If I can get to them, I would rather do it myself and I heard they are pretty easy to replace once you are there.

The RL has an extended emissions warranty of 14 years or up to 150,000 miles. I think the 02 sensors are included in that warranty, you have to go to a new Acura dealer to find out, not one of those used Acura/Infiniti dealers. Check it out, it saved me a lot of money.
