Default 6-8K and break pads are done, what's the problem?

I did front pads and rotors about 6-8K miles ago the pads are already worn down to the metal clips, what could be the issue? Is it the calipers or something else? Both sides are worn down about the same amount. I do mostly high way driving and use the breaks as little as possible.

Thanks for any help.

i dont think its the calipers, cos when my calipers went bad the pads was UNEVEN wear but check your rear breaks, if your rear breaks went bad, that mean the front is doing all the breaking,
