I´ve changed mine just today. The left rear lock became noisy like a “kreeeeeek” sound. I´ve placed a new actuator (not OEM) and it worked 100% like original. But it was done in the repair shop; a simple service; 1 year warranty and total cost around U$45.00. Sorry but I don’t have a diy.

The OEM is $76 and anyone can install it.

Check other threads here. Somebody had a good post that talked about fixing a broken rubber bumper inside the actuator. Mine is bad also. IT is the driver's door on a 96. The dealer quote was well over $100 for the part. Saw it online for as little as $50. I am planning on trying to repair mine first.

how to guide
This link (http://www.accordinglydone.com/forum...php?t=14514)is a very thorough guide to the job. I did my driver door last week-end. It took a little over an hour. It's not hard, you just have to pay close attention to where things are when you disassemble so reassembly goes smoothly. After opening the old actuator up, there are two little rubber bumpers, one of which will be cracked or in pieces. With some solid rubber, and a little whittling, you can fix yours. A new actuator is from $45-80, depending on the car. For my coupe, I had to pay the $80 as I couldn't find an aftermarket one.
