Car threw a code, now what. Help please :o
The check engine light just came on. I jumped the harness and it threw 7 long blinks. Searching HAN, it seems to be a problem with the automatic trans axle.
What should I do now?
Are there more detailed codes to be read? If so, will taking it to a place like Auto Zone or Kragen get that information? Thanks

Vato Zone, esse.
Pull the DTC code.
If D4 is blinking, theres a different service connector (under the driver's side kick panel) to pull error codes for the transmission.
If it isn't, scan from the OBD-2 port. It'll probably be P0122 or P0123, both of which indicate faults with the throttle position sensor.

The sensor bolts to the throttle body and measures the position of the throttle (obviously).
It should read 5V+ with the throttle opened fully and about .5V+ at idle.
If you have (or can get) a 1997 DC4 Helms manual, check page 11-59 for the flowchart.
First things first, though. Confirm that you've got a P0122 or P0123 error.

From the helms:
"Automatic Transmission malfunction with the automatic transmission controls"...doesn't sound like TPS to me. The TPS has its own code.
I think it's probably just a weird reading the ecu got from a sensor, so it tripped the code. Reset the ECU and see if it comes on again.
Code from CEL blinking > vato zone reader code

0700 and 0740.
 I got the code cleared and so far the light is still off. I am going to see if it comes back on.
