It won't bolt in directly. You;d have to do some custom fabrication to get it to work Frankly, there are a lot of other engines that will drop in relatively painlessly. You can drop in pretty much any B series engine without much grief. My choice would be a B18C1 with a B18B crank and B18B rods.

Would the longer stroke lower the redline?

Yeah, I'm curious as to why you'd choose to do this as well. By all means, fill me in.

No. Redline is not governed by the crank. The longer stroke would in essence give you an LS/VTEC without the (un)reliability issues. It's easier to swap an LS crank and rods into a GSR block than it is to put VTEC oil squirters, oil pump, water pump, and block girdle into an LS block. You would have all the benefits of an LS/VTEC without the problems.

Could you expand on this. Explain what happens when you put the LS crank and rods in.

The LS crank has a longer stroke. That's why an LS displaces more than a GSR. That's also why an LS has more low-end torque than a GSR. When you slap a VTEC head on an LS block, you get the LS stroke and low-end torque, as well as the VTEC pull in the upper RPM range. Building an LS/VTEC properly can be a bit costly, unless you're good at machine work. Most people just slap a VTEC head on and call it a day. This can lead to many problems, one of which is improper oiling. By putting an LS crank and rods into a GSR block, you get the benefits of an LS/VTEC plus you already have the pre-existing VTEC oiling components, as well as an OEM block girdle.

Damn Chris, that's a wicked good idea. I don't know why you don't see more people out there doing it.
