Default quick question about stuck caliper.

im about to go out and buy a new caliper...b/c its sticking and it wont release the pad off the rotor...this IS what i need to fix the problem correct?

yeah sounds like the piston in your caliper is frozen. If you can get it off, spray a little 10w-40 and it should free it up.

i tried a couple days ago...i greased it up and everything...still no luck. crystalized my rotor AGAINh:


so go for the caliper?

You might be able to rebuild it, but you might as well get a new caliper if it's not too pricey.

a new caliper is rebuilt...i gotta exchange the broken one. its somewhere along the lines of $34...i have a discount at the store so cheaper than that.

Do that. I was referring to doing it yourself with a rebuild kit(new seals, etc), but for $34 save yourself the trouble.

caliper rebuilds never go well if you dont know what youre doing, and usually they are like $8 cheaper than a professionally rebuilt one.

oh yeah, and wd40 is not a valid way to fix a problem...
