Apathy Kills
I have read about this problem occurring on other boards, but it seems to be rare.
Do the revs soar when you first hit the gas?
Or is their an audible clunk when you back off of the gas with the car in motion?
If it's the former, I would suspect the belt section of the CVT, specifically the electronics & hydraulics that control the diameter of each pulley. The input shaft pulley may not be engaging with the drive belt as smoothly as it should.
If it's the latter, I'd look into the differential final gear and more likely, the constant-velocity joints on each drive axle.
