Default My GSR NA Rebuild

The GSR has been down since September '07 when the oil pump broke. Its time to put it back on the road. Here's the parts progress so far:

- Zeitronix Wideband unit
- 98+ JDM ITR header and heatshield
- Hasport Black Billet mounts
- Stock GSR TB bored out to 64mm with port-matched IM
- Endyn modified ITR oil pump
- 98+ JDM ITR tranny
- JDM ITR pistons .25 OS

Future parts:
- Shot-peened GSR rods with ARP rod bolts - done
- Golden Eagle head studs
- Moroso oil pan - Used Spoon oil pan instead
- ATI Super Damper
- ITR valvetrain (CTR cams already in use) - done
- Port & Polish (maybe) - Definitely, by Dan Paramore
- Koyo radiator and slim fans
- Hondata S100

Compression should be about 11.3:1 with a stock head gasket. The idea is to build a reliable motor with enough power for trips to Willow Springs later this year.

I thought about rebuilding the block myself but decided not to, I'll just take it to a shop. All comments and suggestions are welcome

you should probably use the s300 because of the amount of stuff that you can do over the s100

The S100 is only $600 installed and tuned by Church Automotive, vs $950 for the S300. Honestly, I don't see myself using those extra features anyway.

My stock one is damaged and the Moroso one is about the same price as a new OEM one. Although, I didn't know about it having any issues. I do want a better than stock one though for the track, maybe I should go with the Spoon or Mugen. Is a stock one good enough for the track?

The block is out of the shop now and I bought a Spoon oil pan that was on sale at a local shop. I finally found part of the reason why the oil pump broke, here is a picture of the old oil pickup vs the new one(also, same part# but new one has larger squares for the oil to pass through):

yeah the spoon one is a modified stock pan if i remember correctly. good for you.

the moroso, while well built tend to leak around the gasket surfaces. but i read about that a long time ago. dont know if they addressed the issue or not.

Thats right, its a modified honda oil pan. I had an oil leak for a long time, definitely didn't want to risk it anymore. Thanks for the heads up on the moroso.

I installed the oil cooler, new oil pump, baffle plate, and oil pickup last night. Can't find the oil pan nuts & bolts, so I may have to order some. In the second picture, you can see the new ARP rod bolts on the shot-peened rods.

Thats exactly the type of place I needed to find. I used to work in Burbank; I just looked them up now and I know exactly where they are.

Thanks Spec R, helping the build with every post.
