The Performance Racing Industry Show - PRI Review
The Performance Racing Industry show isn't the largest automotive aftermarket tradeshow in the country. No, you're probably thinking of that other one in Vegas we talk about every November. The PRI tradeshow is roughly half the size. There's only half as much ground to cover, about half as many people to rub shoulders with and about half as many places to eat-stuff like that matters to us-but there's also a good twice as many hardcore race goods on display. How'd they do that?
The PRI industry-only tradeshow is a no-nonsense one. If you're into chrome 22s, then you're out of luck. Go somewhere else. You also won't find much in terms of non-functional body kits, just about anything that lights up but doesn't belong on the front of your car or, frankly, anything that doesn't make you go faster, stop quicker or turn better then you did before you came. Oh, there also aren't a whole lot of cars on display at Orlando's PRI-remember, this is no wussy car show, PRI's the no-holds-barred event for those of us who'd rather open a box full of connecting rods on Christmas day than a lousy shirt and tie-and PRI really doesn't cater to the Honda guy. If big-blocks are your thing, then you just might find the show's three-day schedule to be a bit on the skimpy side but we're guessing big-blocks aren't really your thing. As for us Honda folk though, there was still plenty to keep us busy for our short time there; after all, there are more than a few bits and pieces that make no qualms whether they're being bolted up to grandpa's Impala or your EK.
