question about 5th gen prelude OFFSET?
What exactly is it and how important is it? Here's my situation.
I bought 06 civic si rims and the bolt pattern is the same as my 97 prelude 5x114.3. They bolt on no prob but the front rims don't clear my stock break calipers. The break calipers stick out a little past the rims so the car doesn't move at all. Is this because of my offset?? I've read on forums that the stock offset is 55 for my car. While shopping 4 rims I don't see 55 offset that often....only 40,45,48. Im now looking 4 new rims but don't want to run into the same issue. Any recommendations? I'm looking to get 17 in rims. What is an offset that will fit my lude??? Any feed back is appreciated and I'm not looking 2 change break pads 2 get the rims to fit. And I was told spacers wouldn't work.
BTW anybody want to buy some MINT 06 civic SI rims??? =)
Thanks

ok so I'm just a little confused. This is info from tirerack.com
Offset: 48mm Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:215/45-17
**Lightweight: 21.2lbs.**
These are aftermarket rims specs for a 2006 honda civic si coupe.

These are aftermarket rims specs for a 1997 honda prelude sh.
They are the same exact specs for aftermarket rims but stock 06 civic si rims don't clear my preludes break calipers???

Are you talking about an older prelude??...... I believe 97 and up lude is 55 offset stock rim. Any way guys what offset will fit on my 97 lude?? I'm looking to get 17s. People say 42 offset will fit?? I'm thinking that's too small. Will 48 offset be to big?? please any help and facts on this would be much appreciated......especially w/ spring around the corner. I'm looking 2 get sum rims real soon hopefully =)
