Default Won't shift out of park

I have a 1997 Acura CL3.0 160,K Today it wouldn't let me shift out of park and had to use the shiftlock over ride. I read a lot about the 99 and newer CL's tranny trouble now I am nervous. The manual states to bring it to an authorized acura dealership. (yeah, right) there are no other things going on with the car, just this little thing. (well, every now and then the A.B.S. light won't go off after startup.)

Has anybody else had this happen?

Do the brake lights work? Does the horn work?

Default Silly Me

Found the problem with the car not wanting to shift out of park. This morning I also noticed that I had no brakel lights. I happen to hit the horn button while looking at the brake switch under the dash. I noticed the horn did not blow, so I looked at the owners manual and found the brake lights and horn are together. I blew a fuse, changed the fuse and Viola, shifts out of park again.

Default Shift Release

Look in your owners manual for a section dealing with SHIFT RELEASE.

If you follow the directions, you should be able to shift your gears.

They also recommend you take your car in for service as soon as possible.
