Default tail-light-indicator on the dash stays on after tail light bulbs replaced...

Car is a 91 EX 4dr auto w/ 213k miles
------------------------------------
So the tail-light-indicator on my dash came on a few weeks ago so I replaced the rear brake light that was out. Problem solved.

Fast forward to 3 days ago...

I noticed the tail-light-indicator had come back on. While the light was on, I got out and checked the tails while someone held the brake pedal down. All lights were working fine. So I continued to drive. Then later the brake light on the dash goes off. Then today on my way to work, the break light was back on.

So basically tail-light-indicator on the dash has been coming on and staying on for a while and then randomly going off. The only thing I've noticed is that while the tail-light-indicator is on, the cruise control will not work.

Any ideas?

Check for dirt or oxidation in the bulb socket.

ok, I'll check those once the rain gives it a rest.

any idea why this could be affecting the cruise control?

I am always paranoid of wiring problems (shorts from corroded insulation, etc) since my car is so old.

well the brake can deactivate the cruise control..try the relay boxes. my brake light indicator has had a mind of its own for 2 yrs now, i just ignore it. it started 2 yrs ago when i started to replace the original bulbs... its white and brown boxes if u have a spoiler..the spoiler runs off the pass side box. i havent changed my relay boxes yet.
