Craigs is actually a good place if you get a bill of sale with it. Also what makes you think your valves are sticking??

well my car won't fire on all clylinders all the time, the problem goes away and comes back every other day, and when it does happen it throws a code 3 which is the fuel map sensor. and i talked to a mechanic and he thought it might be that aswell.

i would get a few maps from the junk yard and do some swapping first. If and intake valve stuck open you would have a back fire.If a exhaust valve stuck open you would have popping noise in your exhaust.Plus if a valve sticks open is usually hits the piston and will cause a permanent misfire.

If a map gos bad you a/f ratio gos to shit runs lean or rich at different rpms causing misfires.

Do you have a turbo,a/f controller.

try a map first.Do a compression test to see if you have a valve bent or sticking.

You can also see what cylinder is missing by removing one plug wire at a time.
If you get to one and rpm will not drop or the engine will not die that would be the problem cylinder.

You might also have a vac leak spray brake clean or carb cleaner around the intake and all vac hoses if engine rpm increases where ever you spray that would be where the leak is.A vac leak confuses the map.

You could have a burnt exhaust valve. You could rip it open, lap the old valves, replace the bad one and clean the deposits off them. All the exhaust valves had pitting where they meet the head. Your intake valves should be fine. That's what I'm doing now with the same symptoms. When it's all done, I'm going to see what's causing me to run so lean. 261,000miles on this engine.

Thanks to HAN for making what seemed like a big impossible job - possible (and fun of course).
