Default Civic CVT Transmission Trouble

I have a '01 Civic GX and I have swapped out the transmission three times since purchasing in 2001. The car has 150,000 miles and now the transmission is "slipping" and occasionally behaves as if it is thrown into first gear.

I am kind of at a crossroad and looking for some insight based on experience as to what I should do with this transmission.

1. Should I get rid of the car and get something else?
2. Should I throw another $3000 into replacing the transmission again?
3. Does anyone have experience with these types of problems and have a good solution?
4. Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase a new transmission if I choose to go that route in SoCal?

Thanks for your help,

Craig

bring it to a Honda dealer and tell them the problems you are having. A CVT should NEVER "slip" especially under the conditions in which you are stating.

You could always throw in a manual if you're that tired of it. Honda manual trannies are generally bulletproof but their autos leave something to desire.

Default Manual Transmission

Is it possible to change out this CVT Transmission for a manual?

Will there be any modifications to make this happen?

Thanks,

Craig

their is a number in the back of your service manual you can call and try to get a free trans from honda.just tell them you will never by a honda again and get mad some times that will work it worth a try(im am not joking customers do it all the time at the shop i work at).it only works if your car is stock(no turbos or engine swaps).

It is possible. Many modifications are necessary.

I was just wondering what problems you were having when you swapped the trans out before. Did you hear from the dealer/shop that it's common on that CVT?

IMO unless you can get a free replacement from Honda you should stick a 5spd in it, even a traditional auto would be better... unless you think someone would be willing to pay well for it with the bad trans.
