Default Safe to run stock b16 retainers to high rpm

Hi guys, I have a b16a2 engine which I will be installing ctr cams with jun valve springs, are the stock retainers safe use up to 9000 redline? thx

id upgrade those too, from a ctr/itr or some aftermarket ones. might as well get it all done at once

Some of the more experienced people on here were saying that those are the same all around the vtec b series... Just what I heard. If you want upgrade, go with skunk2 or toda.

I'd just go with some OEM ITR retainers and call it a day. No need to go with the expense of skunk2 or toda. jmo

thx guys, i might just get the itr retainers or wait and get the ti retainers to be safe.

what about your ECU can that handle the increased RPM?
Can your crankshaft handle that extra revving?

I know you can make your car rev higher but the question is can the parts handle it. ( crankshaft, pistons, etc.. )

ITR retainers are identical to B16 retainers. Aftermarket retainers are cheap enough, so it wouldn't hurt to upgrade them. I don't think you really need them, though.

any particular reason you are going to a 9k redline with CTR cams?

i have a friend who's sellin me his ctr ecu, redline i believe goes up to 8900-9000rpm.

you do not need to rev that high with ctr cams. oem retainers are fine with those cams. i'd be worried about those valve springs you want to run though. they might be too stiff for the cams.
