Default P2P or P72?

Dilemma. Auto to manual conversion on 99 ex. I searched but found no results for this question. I want to chip my OBD2-b P2P auto to manual, is that possible, i heard it wasnt because of OBD2, maybe im mistaken. Should i chip it or buy the manual version of the P2P, or use the P72 (i read that will work for the auto to manual too if you want everything to work correctly).

im not sure what motor you have in your car but unless you have a b18 the p72 isnt for you , if you have a b16 go with a p30, if you have a d16 your gonna need a p28 if its vtec, a p06 if its not vtec, you also can not chip a obd2 so your gonna need a manual verson of the ecu

Alright, thanks, that really helped, its a d16y8 so yes vtec, i just heard that the p72 would work better, but i guess thats not true. I figured you couldn't chip obd2's, but i was just checking. The guy at import auto salvage has got the manual ecu, but do i go with the P2P for the 1996-00 or do i go with the p28 from the 92-95? Thats the only thing i need cleared up now. He also told me to not buy a used clutch and pressure plate, but he said he would give them to me, so what should i do on that, buy new or use the other? I just dont feel safe with the used, but i dont feel like shelling out more money.

Ok, i guess what i dont understand is, i mean the manual P2p is what i need, because its for the 96-00 civic, so why get the p28? when hes selling me the p2p for about 75 bucks less, and you dont need a conversion harness or anything, i dont see why i would want the p28, so wouldnt the p2p run it the best, seeing's that its the same ecu i have right now, just for a manual? Its just not clicking in my head, and im not trying to be a hard ass...

you dont want the P28 unless you are planning on doing turbo down the road or any other kind of performance mods that will need tuning...if you are keeping it fairly stock with bolt ons, get the 99EX ecu

No, im not planning on turbo, i thought about it, but for right now im just going to convert it and have a little fun. Thanks that really cleared things up. The only things is, he has the obd2-a p2p, from the 96-98 civic, so i need the obd2-b p2p from the 99-00 civic correct? what is the difference between both of the p2p's, like why wouldnt i be able to use the obd2-a one in this conversion?
