Default Shaving moulding on a civic

Has anyone ever done this or seen this anywhere?

I am talking about removing the trim or moulding on the sides of the car and shaving it like you would a door handle or whatever else..

I have been looking for information on it but have yet to find it.

thanks

ive seen it done....there is a couple ways to do it...the best way is to have pieces of metal to fit over the slots and have them welded on and then smoothed and prepped and painted.....a EASIER but not as good is just to bondo it up but if its not done right you could get bubbles or other flaws that will show up later since it would be pretty thick.....i think civics look really good w/o the moldings...much smoother/cleaner

thanks, that is the answer i was looking for,.

I was not going to do the whole thing with bondo because as you said i have seen it bubble and crack after a short period of time of done that way.

I was wondering if it was done before and if it did look good and clean.

You don`t happen to know where i can find pics of this done?

Yeah, up in colder climates (like where Mig is from) a full bondo job is frowned upon, it'll crack in the first winter.

yeah deffinetly no bondo..well very little to make it look good if needed

Yeah i can`t find any pics of it, but i think it coudl look good, but only if it wasn`t relocated, because i seen a few relocation of plates and i think i looks stupid in my opinion anyway....

I dont care if you live in hell, do not use that amount of bondo to fill. Weld in the proper metal, grind, metal glaze, sand, prime, paint.

Using bondo to shave the mouldings in your civic has got to be the most ghetto way of doing anything. Bondo isn't meant to be applied that thick, and think of how many times you'll be slamming your door, of parking lot dings, and it will fall off in no time.

Anyone that tells you that using bondo is the proper, or even a good way of doing what you are after is a complete idiot... I see this way too many times on forums, people shaving the "easy" way, with bondo...

do it right, or don't do it. get them welded up...
