Default 1998 Civic Si ignition problems???please help!

I own a 1998 civic si(canadian) coupe with just a little over 130 000 kms. Recently when i try to start my car there is a delay. Let me try to explain :

1- I turn the key
2- Theres a 5-10 second delay before car actually starts

However, during this delay the car does not turn over at all or attempt to crank. The lights inside stay lit. But the car doesnt start! When the car actually does start, it starts like it would normally, it idels perfectly and runs without any problems. Please help cuz its really starting to worry me.

Hrm couple things to check:

1) how old is the battery? If it's older than about 3-5 years it's time to replace.
2) checked spark plugs recently? I usually change them out every year since they are cheap.
3) check the spark plug wires and the jackets for cracks?
4) how old it is the alternator?
5) Did you try unplugging your battery negative terminal to reset the ECU?
6) does it do it all the time?

So, the gauge lights all stay on, and as long as you keep holding the key down, in 5 seconds it begins to try to crank? My guess would be ignition switch.

What about the coil? It sounds like some capacitor is taking way too long to charge.
