honda could have chose to slap a turbo on a car in the mid to late 80's when the per liter taxations came in, but instead they choose to innovate and do something different-- and now they hold the rights to something that all it's competitors want, yet cannot have. (VTEC is still the only system, short of the one used in the yamaha designed Celica GT-S motor, that allows differences in valve lift)
beyond that the NSX was the first car to be made of alluminum and it's one of the best handling cars that was ever created-- in a stright line you might be able to kill an NSX, but so can a handlful of other cars-- where the NSX accels is in the turns and on a track-- it's honestly a thing of beauty.
did it match up against the competition? i don't really think so (though some will fight it and there are some lap times to back it up), but then again the competition also consisted of ferrari's and lambo's that cost 50% more than the NSX.
just face it you bought an MR2-- good for you-- but it doesnt make it an NSX
