2005 Honda Accord oil change question
2005 honda accord recommneds oil change after 5K miles. Usually i have seen that oil change is done every 3k miles. The honda manual says that recommeded oil grade is 5W-20 .
For the first time I took my Honda accord to walmart tire and lube service center. They filled qauker stake 10W-30 oil in the car.
Now I am really scared that it might not harm the engine? Can you guys suggest me if I should get this oil replaced with 5W-20 immediately?
What is the recommended interval of mileage that oil should be changed in 2005 honda accord?
Thanks
Kev

Mistake
No disrespect, first mistake was taking it to Wal-Mart in the 1st place. I am from Louisiana and they constantly mess up cars in our state. It's so bad at one Wal-Mart that they have posted a sign telling customers that they will not change the oil on any Honda make.

They only put 10W-30 because most cars, like the Accord, use it. I did mine myself and bought my stuff at autozone and the guy gave 10W-30 but i looked at the manual and it said 10W-20, so i had to exchange the oil. Luckily i caught that before i put it in.

Basically it breaks down to this. When the oil is cold it has the thickness (Viscosity) of 10 weight oil and when it is hot has the Viscosity of 30 weight. 10W-40 was under scrutiny for a while because it has too many vacosity thickeners and not enough lube qualities. If your in a cold climate use a 10 weight (10-30) If you in a warmer climate I would recommend 15 or 20 W30-40-50 depending. If you look in your Owners Manual you should find a page with the oils they recommend for you car. so it probably won't harm your car but if you want just drain it and fill it up with what you want

Anyway...good post v6. 10W-30 won't hurt anything but it's always smartest to go with Honda's recommendations in these cases. A 10 weight oil for the wintertime is probably too heavy for your car. Drain it yourself and put in some good Mobil1 Synthetic so you can extend your change interval to 8-10k miles.
